Is Anyone Allowed to use Evergreen Environmental Technologies?
Evergreen Environmental Technologies Corporation is a partnership of the Towns of Carberry, Minnedosa, Neepawa and the Rural Municipalities of Elton, North Cypress-Langford, and Minto-Odanah. Only trash, debris, household recycling from residents/ratepayers/projects within these partners can be disposed of at Evergreen Environmental Technologies.
However Evergreen Environmental Technologies is a regional depot for most Manitoba Recycling Stewardship Programs (EPRA, Clean Farms, and Product Care) which allow us to receive certain materials such as electronics, silage wrap, household hazardous waste, and used tires from residents outside the partnership. Please call for more information.
Is There a Charge to Disposing Trash/Debris at Evergreen?
There is no charge for disposing household trash and debris at this time. However, most partners do charge for the disposal of construction/renovation material. Please check with your local administration office for information regarding these charges.
Does My Load Need to be Covered/Secured?
Yes, for a two reasons;
1) For the safety and cleanliness of our communities, and
2) It is the law! The Manitoba Highway Traffic Act states:
MB HTA: Cargo securement, generally
Sec 4 Without limiting the application of any provision adopted by section 2 or the application of section 3, cargo transported by a vehicle must be contained, covered, immobilized or secured so that it cannot (a) leak from, spill from, blow off, fall from, fall through or otherwise be dislodged from the vehicle; or (b) shift in or on the vehicle to such an extent that the vehicle’s stability or maneuverability is adversely affected.
Sec 5(2) The covering must (a) be made of tarpaulin, canvas, wire mesh, netting or another material capable of containing the load within the vehicle or load container; and (b) be secured to the vehicle or load container in such a manner that it cannot separate from the vehicle or load container.
i.e. your load must be secured so nothing can leave your vehicle. If we feel your load is not secure or loaded as to be unsafe, we do have the authority to assess a $25.00 surcharge.
When I Arrive at Evergreen Environmental Technologies, What is the Procedure?
-Please obey traffic signals and signs.
-ALL VEHICLES MUST SCALE IN AND OUT
-When you first arrive at Evergreen Environmental Technologies, please drive onto the vehicle scale.
-The scale attendant will, weigh your vehicle and ask for your last name, which town or municipality the debris originated from, and what you are bringing to the facility.
-The scale attendant will then direct you where to drop off your debris as there are designated areas for trash, metal, tires, wood, etc. We have pamphlets showing a map of the yard and drop off explanations so please feel free to request one at the scale window.
-When you have finished dropping off your debris, return to the scale and stop to be weighed out. The scale attendant will advise you when you may leave the scale.
-If you are dropping off any construction/renovation material, you will be asked to fill out a form from your Town/RM as all partners have by-laws concerning these items. Please check with your local town/municipality administration office for further information.
Should I Have My Load Separated?
It is not a requirement, but it can reduce the amount of time you spend at the facility.
