About Evergreen

After a great deal of planning and work, the Evergreen Environmental Technologies Waste Facility opened in December 2003.

The facility is located in the RM. of Minto-Odanah, three miles south of Hwy #16 on Hwy #466 between Neepawa and Minnedosa. This Class 1 solid waste disposal facility and recycling depot, was funded through its partners, the RM’s of Minto-Odanah, Elton, North Cypress-Langford and towns of Neepawa, Minnedosa and Carberry, as well as a grant from Western Diversification. Due to the decreasing capacity of the other nuisance grounds within the region, it was felt a new waste site was necessary.

The facility caters to the six partners which have a combined population of 13,006. Evergreen has a capacity of 700,000 tonnes of solid waste providing for approximately 100 years of waste disposal for the region at originally projected rates.

The facility contains a landfill area, recyclables collection area, a pesticide container collection depot, and an area for tires, household hazardous waste, wood, scrap metals and a soil farm. There will be no on-site burning conducted and no disposal of biomedical waste, commercial hazardous waste, liquid waste or livestock.

Waste material is baled/compacted then put into an active cell, which would then be capped when full, with new ones being constructed as required.
